Era Living of Seattle named Karla Clark regional director of sales. Clark has more than a decade of experience and was community relations director at Era Living's University House Wallingford. Era Living has eight Seattle area communities for older adults.

Washington State University Creamery

John Haugen will manage the Washington State University Creamery effective Aug. 1. He has been assistant manager since 1999. He replaces Russ Salvadalena, manager since July 2000, who is retiring in January. Haugen will oversee Ferdinand's Ice Cream Shoppe, cheese and ice cream production and direct marketing. The creamery will break ground this summer on a $4 million facility for training, research and deliveries from the WSU dairy farm.

Nintendo of America has hired a new vice president to lead U.S. sales: Doug Bowser. He will oversee sales, in-store merchandising, retail strategy and retail marketing. Bowser comes to Nintendo from Electronic Arts, where he has worked since 2007, most recently as vice president of global business planning.

Downtown Emergency Services Center

After 27 years as executive director of Downtown Emergency Services Center, Bill Hobson is retiring. Under his leadership, DESC has created and expanded services for homeless people, and become a substantial provider of mental health and addiction treatment, crisis intervention and street outreach. DESC helped pioneer the Housing First approach, and Hobson was the driving force behind 1811 Eastlake, the state's first supportive housing project for homeless people suffering from chronic alcoholism that has become a national model. A retirement party will be held June 9 at Fisher Pavilion in Seattle Center starting at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $31 at desc.org/events.html.

Bartell Drugs turns 125 this year

Just before its 125th anniversary party, Bartell Drugs is opening its 63rd store, this one at 2518 196th St. S.W. in Lynnwood. Lance Mueller & Associates designed the store, and Abbott Construction is the general contractor. The anniversary celebration will be May 30 at the new Lynnwood store, which is Bartell's 15th in Snohomish County. The event is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and includes free food, discounted or free health screens, live music and a cookout. The family-owned Seattle company was founded in 1890.

Baseler named First Citizen

Ted Baseler, president and CEO of Chateau Ste. Michelle Wine Estates, is the 77th Seattle-King County Realtors First Citizen. Baseler is being honored for his contributions to the wine industry, higher education, medical care for children, economic development and tourism. There will be a banquet to celebrate Baseler May 28 at Fairmont Olympic Hotel in Seattle. Speakers will include former Gov. Christine Gregoire, Seattle advertising executive Ron Elgin, Washington State University President Dr. Elson Floyd and Bob Betz, founder of Betz Family Winery.

In its Seattle office, Perkins+Will promoted Andrew Clinch to associate principal and Molly Baker, Deborah Horn, Cameron Hall, Holly Herzer and Edward Palushock to associate. Clinch is a project manager, designer and project architect with nearly 20 years of experience. He focuses on higher education, office and science and technology projects, and his work includes the University of Washington Life Sciences Building. Baker is an interior design leader at the firm who recently completed Northeastern University's expansion at Terry & Thomas. Horn has 24 years of experience in accounting, 10 with Perkins+Will, and manages the financial aspects of the Seattle office. Hall is an architect with 30 years of experience in commercial, transit and civic projects. He is working on a mixed-use office project at 701 Ninth Ave. in Seattle. Herzer is an architect with nine years of experience in health care, higher education, commercial and science and technology projects. Her work includes the Allen Institute for Brain Science in Seattle. Palushock is a senior project architect with over 20 years of experience, including The Atrium, a spec office/research lab project in Seattle. The Perkins+Will Seattle office works on higher education, health care, corporate, commercial, civic, and science and technology projects.

Schafer is project architect for Elysian K-8 School and Medicine Crow Middle School in Billings, Montana. Boeholt is a structural engineer with 18 years of experience in educational, civic and commercial facilities, with work that includes Sammamish High School. Engels is an interior designer, with projects that include Sequim Civic Center. Zwanzig is a project engineer with the structural engineering group. He is working on the King County Children and Family Justice Center in Seattle. Integrus provides architectural, planning, interior design, structural engineering and security design services.

Rolluda Architects hired Paul Dorn as a senior project architect and manager, and Tara Augustad and Maryam Alaeddini as project designers. Dorn was formerly with Harthorne Hagen Architects. He specializes in K-12 educational, commercial and industrial projects. He is working on government, Boeing and K-12 projects. Augustad is working on higher education projects, including the WSU Multicultural Center. Alaeddini has worked on projects for architectural firms in Canada and the U.S. She has a background in housing, malls, office buildings, interior design and master planning, and is working on a park in Tacoma.

Bill Webb joined Stantec's Bellevue office as a senior project manager in the water and environmental services practices. Webb will do business development and project management. He has spent over 25 years managing stormwater and brownfield projects. Before joining Stantec, he was program manager for the environmental division of a global design firm where he worked on a science-based master plan and watershed characterization for Bremerton. Stantec consults in planning, engineering, architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, surveying, environmental sciences, project management and project economics.

Marten Law

Marten Law is expanding its energy and environmental practice in Boise by hiring Thomas Perry, formerly general counsel and chief legal advisor to Idaho Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter. Perry joins Idaho partner Terry Uhling, formerly general counsel of J. R. Simplot Co. This is the firm's sixth office.

Perry also worked for the National Mining Association in Washington, D.C.

Stoel Rives partner Joseph P. McCarthy was elected a Fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers for 2015. Admission is by invitation based on ability, experience, leadership and conduct. McCarthy practices in the real estate and construction group.

Crowley Maritime

Crowley Maritime has acquired Maritime Management Services, a Seattle company that manages crews for offshore oil and gas vessels. MMS offers visas, documentation, certifications and travel support, and also has a location in Singapore. MMS was founded in 2005 and was acquired by Crowley following the unexpected death of former owner Trevor Stabbert in 2013.
