Auto Warehousing

Tacoma's Auto Warehousing Co. has been named the recipient of the 15th annual George Francis Train International Business Commemorative award by the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber of Commerce. The award is given in recognition of the growth in international business and for significant economic and cultural contributions to Tacoma and Pierce County. Auto Warehousing is the largest auto processing company in the nation, operating 28 facilities throughout the U.S. The company has been based in Tacoma for more than 25 years. The Port of Tacoma and Auto Warehousing recently completed a long term lease and operating agreement that will enable the port to build a new $40 million auto terminal.

Delridge Neighborhoods Development Association

Don Young, vice president and community banking district manager for Wells Fargo, has been named to the board of directors of the Delridge Neighborhoods Development Association. Young will serve a three-year term on the association's board. Wells Fargo recently contributed $5,000 to the association.

Colliers International

David Passaglia is the new president of corporate services for Vancouver, B.C.-based Colliers International. Passaglia was senior managing director for Grubb & Ellis' corporate services group. Colliers President and CEO Doug Frye said hiring Passaglia "recognizes the value of the corporate services model and the need for greater integration with our traditional brokerage services."

Wallace Properties

Elizabeth Best rejoined Wallace Properties in Bellevue as a retail investment and leasing agent. After starting at Wallace Properties, Best worked in marketing for Tarragon Development and her own firm, Distinction Marketing. She has attended the University of Washington and Seattle Pacific University.

CREW to hear about Kent Station

Randy Kyte and Nathan Torgelson will talk about the $130 million Kent Station project at the next monthly lunch meeting of Commercial Real Estate Women. The event is scheduled for noon on Thursday, Feb. 13, at the Washington Athletic Club. When built, Kent Station will total 530,000 square feet of mixed uses in the center of Kent. Kyte, who played a key role in such big retail projects as Redmond Town Center, is an executive of Langly Properties, which is developing Kent Station with Tarragon Development. Anna Davidoff, Rick Smith, Bill Burns and Doug Koh became sales agents in John L. Scott Real Estate's Redmond office. Barbara Trulson, Betty M. Robinson, Johnny Robinson, Betty Zull, Frances Clarke, Scott Clarke, John Coxon, Ken Chaney and Tamara Miller joined the firm's Arlington office. Aaron Stafford and Roland Staiano signed on in Kent. Valerie Kolytiris, who was a Seattle-based vice president and manager of national title insurance sales for LandAmerica Financial Group, joined Stewart Title Guaranty Co.'s Los Angeles office as vice president and business development officer. Kolytiris, who has 15 years of experience in the title business and managed 16 people at LandAmerica, will concentrate on both Southern California and the Northwest.

Tyree Scott Apartments

Activist Tyree Scott, who is fighting cancer, will have his name on a 21-apartment complex in Southeast Seattle for homeless and low-income families. The Seattle-based Low Income Housing Institute, which is developing the complex, named it the Tyree Scott Apartments. According to a LIHI press release Scott, now retired as an electrician, "led efforts to integrate the construction and building trades and shut down a number of construction sites because of the lack of black workers." He founded the Northwest Labor and Employment Law Office, known as LELO. Home Depot and KaBOOM have agreed to help pay for building a playground for children at the complex. Seahawks running back Shaun Alexander and a crew from Fox Sports Net were slated to attended a workshop yesterday on designing the playground.

Bellevue Retail Roundtable

The city of Bellevue will hold a Retail Roundtable in the City Council Chambers at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23. Broker David Messner of Northwest Atlantic Partners will talk about why Costco chose Bellevue to launch its first Costco Fresh store. Kevin O'Neill, the city's strategic planning manager, will discuss what 2000 census results say about Bellevue retail. Nordstrom diversity affairs director Johnetta Rowsey and Bank of America Factoria manager Paul Mills will tell how businesses benefit from serving minorities. L.J. Melody

Mark Capeloto of the commercial mortgage broker L.J. Melody & Co.'s Seattle office arranged $19.5 million in permanent financing from Washington Mutual Savings on Pier 70 for Triad Pier 70 LLC, L.J. Melody said. Pier 70 is located on the north end of the downtown Seattle waterfront. Triad Development redeveloped the pier a few years ago into 105,000 square feet of offices over two restaurants and parking. The Graham & Dunn law firm leases much of the office space.

Marcus & Millichap

Arthur Jennings sold a seven-unit apartment building in Edmonds, at 19501 80th Ave. W., to David Taylor for $733,000. Marcus & Millichap broker Richard Walker represented Jennings.

M&M's Robert Sheppard received the listing to market the 91-unit Vantage Park Apartments on First Hill at a $12.5 million asking price for a Bellevue-based partnership, M&M said. Kim Probst leads the partnership that built the complex in 2000. The price equals a 7.2 percent cap rate. The property is at 1011 E. Terrace St. in Seattle and is 90 percent occupied. The asking price equals $137,353 per unit.

Dr. Brent Thomas sold a 10-unit apartment building at 9200 S.W. 15th St. in Seattle to Rahel Yirga for $458,000. M&M's George Miller represented the buyer and seller.
