The Client Coach How to build strong business relationships |
August 29, 2001
It’s time for me to come out of the closet! I can’t hold it back any longer! I’m an Indiana Jones fanatic! There, I feel better. One of my favorites is “The Last Crusade” where Indiana is in a save-the-world race against the Nazis in search of the Holy Grail. He has to find it before they do to keep its awesome powers away from their diabolical plans.
I’ll fast-forward through to the climatic scene: 1) Jones finds the shrine but the bad guys are right behind. 2) “Badest” bad guy shoots Indiana’s father. 3) To save his father, Jones defies a perilous obstacle course to reach the secret chamber where a knight, nearly 1,000 years old, guards the Holy Grail. 4) The bad guys follow with guns drawn. 5) Everyone crowds around an altar containing a host of beautiful, bejeweled golden chalices—all, of course, except one. 6) The knight announces that just one sip from the Holy Grail can bestow eternal life. But first, they must choose the right cup. 7) Greedily the badest bad guy picks up a golden chalice adorned with precious jewels—drinks, enjoys a split second of ecstasy and…well, he not only bit the dust, he became the dust! The next line is my favorite. The knight says, almost smugly, “He chose poooooorly.”
