Location: Vancouver

Contractor: Sunco Drywall

Architect: Endall Elliot Associates

Team: BC Ceiling Systems, Commercial Construction Supply, Pro-line Insulation, Bailey West, CertainTeed Gypsum, CGC Inc., Owens Corning Insulation

The new Hotel Georgia residential tower was built next to the historic 1927 hotel. The tower contains 36 floors of luxury residential suites above 12 floors of commercial space.

The project was challenging due to its size and high-end finishes.

For the residential tower, Sunco Drywall installed 1.1 million lineal feet of steel-stud framing and 1.4 million square feet of drywall, including 20,000 square feet of shaft wall. Sunco also installed 450,000 square feet of insulation, 167,000 square feet of drywall suspension, and 71,000 square feet of T-bar and acoustical tile.

Judge’s comment: “‘Hotel’ is not the word that comes to mind when you see the Hotel Georgia residence tower. The diversity of the rooms in the hotel’s residential tower are actually fashionable, upscale private residences that take full advantage of the magnificent views of the Vancouver skyline.”
