Seattle Savings Bank

Ellen M. Sas has joined Seattle Savings Bank as president and chief executive officer. Sas was formerly president, chief executive officer and chairman of the board at Northstar Financial Corp., a bank holding company headquartered in Seattle before it was sold to Frontier Bank in 2006. In 2005 she was named one of the “25 Most Powerful Women in Banking” by U.S. Banker magazine. Sas has been a consultant to the public accounting firm of Knight, Vale & Gregory.

Puget Sound Blood Center

Puget Sound Blood Center trustees named James P. AuBuchon, MD, to succeed Richard B. Counts, MD, as president and CEO. AuBuchon will begin his tenure Sept. 1. Counts retires Aug. 31 after 35 years at the blood center. AuBuchon is chair of pathology at Dartmouth-Medical School in New Hampshire.

Everett Community College

Everett Community College hired John Bonner as its first executive director for corporate training. Bonner will lead the Continuing Education division, which includes customized training for business and industry, corporate training, lifelong learning and the College in the High School program. He worked at Shoreline Community College and the University of Washington.

InfoSpace

Bellevue-based InfoSpace promoted Michael Glover to vice president, business development, responsible for strategic partner strategy. He has 14 years of business development, sales and marketing experience, and was director of marketing at Uniglobe.com before joining Infospace.

Marcus & Millichap

Marcus & Millichap Capital Corp. named Glenn Gioseffi a director in the Seattle office. Gioseffi is responsible for overseeing loan originations. Gioseffi was with BMC Capital.

GreenBroker conference May 22

The Cascadia Region Green Building Council and the Commercial Brokers Association are collaborating on an initiative called Certified Green Broker, which will begin with a conference May 22 in the Oregon Convention Center in Portland. It is geared towards people in commercial real estate and finance, and will focus on marketing, financing, leasing and selling green buildings. Sessions range from market trends to green leases. Bill Browning, co-founder of Terrapin Bright Green, and Martin Melaver, president and founder of Melaver Inc., are the keynote speakers. A new professional certification, Certified Green Broker, will be offered through Web-based and live seminars in Seattle, Portland and Vancouver. CREW scholarship program

Commercial Real Estate Women has launched a $100,000 scholarship program aimed at fostering careers for women in commercial real estate. CREW Network will award 10 $10,000 scholarships to women enrolled full time in their junior or senior year of an accredited real estate program at a college or university. Each recipient will receive a paid internship program at a commercial brokerage firm. CREW also launched CREWCareerzone.org, a Web site providing resources for women. Facility consulting firm Engineering Economics hired Zack Stockton as a senior engineer and project manager. Stockton has experience in direct digital controls and is working on data center and school district projects. The firm also hired Michael DiPasquale as an electrical engineer. DiPasquale is providing commissioning services to the Providence Medical Centers in Portland and Hood River and for Sherwood School District's remodels. The firm also hired Craig Johnas. Johnas has building automation systems experience and will work as a commissioning project manager.

The landscape architecture firm Weisman Design Group promoted Nick Hagan and Andy Rasmussen to principals. The firm also promoted Wendy Anderson, Mike Loe and Jon McNamara to senior associates. Hagan has 14 years of experience with the firm and is currently leading the design of Cascadia, a planned community in Pierce County, and managing education, recreation, and mixed use projects. Rasmussen has 12 years of experience at Weisman. He is working on K-12 schools and mixed-use projects throughout the region. Anderson has 25 years of experience in design and management and is currently working on the Bravern in Bellevue, and other commercial and educational projects. Loe has 12 years of experience in site planning, educational and recreational facilities, and is managing projects for the Riverview and Sumner school districts. McNamara has 10 years of experience in design and project management and is currently working on mixed-use, educational and high-rise projects.

Clark/Kjos Architects promoted Guy Maluda and Tyler Carlson to associates. Maluda has more than 20 years of experience in architecture, planning and construction administration. He previously was director of facilities management at Harborview Medical Center. Maluda is working as a project manager on the $400 million Good Samaritan Hospital expansion in Puyallup. Carlson is a project designer with more than 14 years of experience on health care, institutional and civic facilities. Carlson's recent projects include the Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital expansion, Good Samaritan and Wellspring Medical Center in Woodburn, Ore.

MulvannyG2 Architecture's southwest office hired Bill Engle as principal and group design leader. Engle has experience in large commercial projects, including retail, office, hospitality, mixed-use, and residential projects and will help to strengthen the firm's presence in Southern California. Engle's past projects include Shanghai's Grand Gateway, a 3.1-million-square-foot mixed-use project, and Salt Lake City's City Creek Center, a multi-million dollar urban redevelopment.

Freeman Fong Architecture hired Deng Chau has as an intern architect and Pei Yu Lin as office manager. Chau is working on the Cle Elum Ranger Station expansion project for the U.S. Forest Service and the Chinatown Wellness Plaza, an eight-story mixed-use building in the International District. Lin previously worked as an account coordinator for an East Asian exporting company.

NBBJ promoted David Yuan to partner and Dick Lee and Allen Whitaker to principals. With more than 17 years at NBBJ, Yuan is a leader of the firm's commercial practice. Specializing in large-scale, mixed-use projects, Yuan has led teams on the Schnitzer Fifth and Madison tower, WaMu Center, expansion of the Seattle Art Museum and Pacific Place. Lee has 40 years of design experience and is a leader in the health care practice. Lee's past projects include the University of Washington Surgery Pavilion, Southwest Washington Medical Center and Banner Gateway Medical Center. Whitaker has been an architect at NBBJ since 1989. His past projects include the Virginia Mason Medical Center, Harborview Medical Center and Southwest Washington Medical Center.

KPFF Consulting Engineers

Palmer
Mark Palmer has joined the Tacoma office of KPFF Consulting Engineers. Palmer, a civil engineer, previously owned a civil engineering company in Tacoma. His areas of expertise include parks, commercial, institutional, residential and civic projects. He also has designed low impact development projects with a particular emphasis on porous pavement applications.

Stoel Rives

The Seattle office of Stoel Rives hired Howard D. Bye as of counsel in the employee benefits section of the Business Services Practice Group. His practice focuses on assisting clients with employee benefit matters. Bye worked with the Employee Benefits Institute.

American Bar Association

Jennifer K. Wyatt, an attorney in the Seattle office of law firm Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, was recently appointed to chair the Women in the Profession Committee of the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division. The ABA-YLD is the ABA's largest entity with 147,000 members. The WIPC has 420 members nationwide and is dedicated to securing equal participation of women in the ABA, the legal profession and the justice system.

Utilities and Transportation Commission

The Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission hired Anne F. Soiza as director of pipeline safety. Soiza will oversee safety programs and inspections of petroleum and natural-gas pipelines. She has managed the state's Occupational Safety and Health Administration enforcement program at the Department of Labor and Industries since 2006.
