The Seattle law firm of Gordon Thomas Honeywell Malanca Peterson & Daheim has added three new associates in the Tacoma office: Jason P. Amala, Erik R. Grotzke and M. Lorena Gonzalez. All of them attended Seattle University School of Law. Amala's focus is personal injury law. Grotzke specializes in complex commercial litigation. Gonzalez's practice focuses on personal injury law.
Mobilisa named Terry Thiele as director of sales, a new position. Thiele brings more than 18 years of sales and management experience, the last eight in the high-tech arena. The company is based in Port Townsend, and provides mobile and wireless systems for devices such as Pocket PC, Palm, cell phones, smart cards, and RF tags.
Former Governor Gary Locke has joined the board of directors of the 5th Avenue Theatre. He is a partner in the Seattle office of Davis Wright Tremaine and co-chair of the firm's China Practice and Governmental Relations Practice.

Seattle-based Kibble & Prentice, an insurance and financial services firm, promoted Ellen Boyer to chief operating officer, adding to her position of chief financial officer, which she has held since she joined the company in 2002.
Washington Mutual hired Sari L. Macrie as senior vice president of corporate communications. Macrie will be responsible for internal and external communications for the firm and its more than 55,000 employees. She was senior vice president of corporate communications for Cardinal Health and also owned a communications consulting firm.
The Everett Area Chamber of Commerce named Eric Christensen, Snohomish County PUD assistant general counsel, as Employee of the Year for his work in the PUD's legal battle with Enron. The chamber said he helped uncover tapes and documents that proved Enron defrauded consumers. Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-Wash) won a Service to Business award for helping boost the local economy and for her role in the PUD's legal battle with Enron.
The law firm Cairncross & Hempelmann of Seattle added Susan Wright Geiger and Brian W. Pease to the firm. Both will be in the Corporate Finance & Business Transactions Group.

Pamela Christensen and Carrie DeBruler of Williams Marketing are site managers for the sales center of Olive 8, developer R.C. Hedreen's 36-story condominium/hotel that will break ground in January. The center is scheduled to open in January. Units will range in size from 650 to 1,600 square feet and are priced from the high $200,000s to $1.5 million. Prices for the penthouses haven't been set.
Debra Trappen is the new agent recruitment and development manager for Coldwell Banker Bain. She will oversee launch of an agent development program. She previously was owner of The DMK Group, a contract recruiting and event planning company, and had worked as an executive recruiter for Cisco Systems.
Seattle-based Security Properties, in partnership with GMAC Institutional Advisors, bought the 298-unit Serravella Apartments in Hollywood, Calif., for $64 million. Security plans to re-position Serravella built in 1986 into a more hip, upscale community. Security owns more than 20,000 apartment units in 36 states.
The Institute of Real Estate Management named Lorig Management Services the Accredited Management Organization of the Year. IREM named Heidi Turner, a residential property manager for Lorig, Certified Property Manager of the Year. Lorig Management Services is an affiliate of Lorig Associates, a Seattle development company.
Emeritus Assisted Living, based in Seattle, acquired three communities in Arkansas. The properties total 253 units and were purchased for $18 million. The publicly traded company holds interest in 185 communities in 35 states.
ScanlanKemperBard, a Portland real estate merchant bank, acquired the 296-unit Copper Canyon Apartments in Riverside, Calif., in partnership with Griffin Investments LLC for $36.5 million. It's three blocks from University of California Riverside. Griffin will be the property manager.
The Commercial Brokers Association's Real Estate Insights breakfast is at 7 a.m. Dec. 16 at the Grand Hyatt, 721 Pine St., Seattle.
