Andrea McGhee and Kayla Lea Jorgenson were promoted to loan officers at the Lacey mortgage company named Versata Home Loan Solutions. Previously they had been loan processors. Versata was a Q-Point franchise for five years, up until last year when it established its own name. McGhee has worked with Versata for one year. Jorgenson joined the office in 1998. The company hired two new loan officers: Malcolm Miller and Tim Bellon. Miller worked in loan servicing and appraisal for Washington Mutual for five years. Bellon worked as a general contractor and then at Premier Mortgage in Anchorage.

Marcus & Millichap broker Robert Sheppard put together a $5.4 million apartment complex sale in North St. Paul, Minn. In the deal, a Twin Cities-based syndicator paid a Beverly Hills-based tax credit syndicator named National Partnership Investments Corp. for the 94-unit Cottages of North St. Paul. Sheppard is a senior investment associate in M&M's Bellevue office. Matt Whiteside of M&M’s Milwaukee office worked with Sheppard in representing both sides.

Steve Delmore was promoted to executive vice president for operations at Merrill Gardens, a Seattle-based owner and operator of 61 assisted-living retirement centers in 15 states. Doug Spear transferred from vice president and controller at parent company R.D. Merrill Co. to senior vice president and chief financial officer at Merrill Gardens.

Insuring real estate after Sept. 11

Lawyers Kathy Crook and Scott Osborne will talk about the new realities of insuring commercial property after the Sept. 11 destruction of the World Trade Center in New York at a presentation on May 23. NAIOP looks at Seattle construction

Steve Trainer, Ken Johnsen and Steve McConnell will talk about construction in downtown Seattle at the next breakfast meeting of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties, Wednesday, May 15. Moderator Kate Joncas, president of the Downtown Seattle Association, will begin with an overview of projects under construction, including the new library, federal courthouse and City Hall. Trainer is a principal of Seneca Real Estate Group, which manages the new library's development. Johnsen, of Shiels Obletz, will talk about the new municipal campus. Lennox Scott, author

J. Lennox Scott, third-generation head of Seattle-based John L. Scott Real Estate, is now also J. Lennox Scott, author. Scott and his firm's publicist, Shelley Rossi, have produced a 64-page paperback book about selling houses called "Next Generation Real Estate." The publisher is Dageforde Publishing of Crete, Neb. "It's a trade publication, geared to real estate professionals," Rossi said. Scott says the book covers how to take advantage of the latest technology and aims to "enable agents to double their productivity while maintaining healthy, balanced lives."

Huy Nguyen is a new sales associate in John L. Scott's North Seattle office. The firm said Nguyen is active in the Vietnamese community and is a member of the SSCC Vietnamese Club. Joe Straling and Alexis Hilliard joined the Magnolia office. Straling brings a background in construction and remodeling to his new career. Hilliard has worked in real estate for five years and has a background in home remodeling and design.

Jim Fox and Kevin McCarthy joined the Lynnwood office, while George Riad now works in Lynnwood West.

George Warren is a sales associate in North Bend. Kent North added Susan Glenn and Gail Anderson.

Former chef Michele Lussier joined John L. Scott's Laurelhurst office. Four people joined the Lakeside office in Madison Park: Richard Todd, Renee Starling, Edward Gulberg and David Caverly.

Corey Robinson shifted from selling radio ads to sales associate in John L. Scott's Highlands office. Larry Serrin also started up in the Highlands office.

John L. Scott also opened its 112th office, this one in Cle Elum. Salmon La Sac Realty, operated by 23-year veteran Larry Scholl, is now a John L. Scott affiliate. This is the fifth office the firm has opened in the state since March.

500 Elliott LLC

EverTrust Bank issued a $6.35 million construction take-out loan on a 44-unit apartment project built last year at 500 Elliott Ave. W., near Myrtle Edwards Park in Seattle. Steelhead Capital of San Francisco arranged the three-year loan at a 7.125 percent interest rate for the first year, rolling to adjustable with a 30-year amortization. The loan-to-value ratio is 75 percent, Steelhead said, with debt service coverage of 1.25. The borrower is Five-Hundred Elliott LLC, led by Horizon Realty Advisors.

L.J. Melody and Co. arranged a $31 million, fixed-rate mortgage for the 203,000-square-foot mixed-use Murray Scholls Town Center in Beaverton, Ore.

Bryan Jones was promoted to Quadrant Corp.'s community sales and marketing manager at the Redmond Ridge sales center. Jones worked the past two years as a sales representative for the project, and previously worked in sales at Qwest and Verizon. Mike Satterlee, who had the Redmond Ridge job that Jones now holds, shifted to community sales and marketing manager at the home-finding center at Snoqualmie Ridge, another of Quadrant's master-planned developments. Also at Redmond Ridge, Gary Lardizabal became a sales representative, Natalie Mitha became a sales and broker outreach representative and Jana Decker started as community sales assistant. At Snoqualmie Ridge, Jennille Jankauskas became a community sales assistant.

Paragon Real Estate Advisors

Paragon brokers assembled a $1.35 million sale of the 16-unit Mapletree Apartments in North Seattle. Russell Enterprises sold the 1968 structure to Steven and Emily Elliott, with both the seller and buyers conducting 1031 exchanges. The apartments are at 2015 N.E. 89th St. Brokers Michael McQuaid and Peter Larsen represented the seller. Cathy Jeney represented the buyer. The price equals $84,063 per unit and a market cap rate of 7.91 percent.

Action Mortgage

Dennis Day was promoted to senior vice president and manager of permanent loans for Spokane-based Sterling Savings Bank's Action Mortgage Co. subsidiary. Day joined Action in September 2000 with 17 years of mortgage banking experience, most recently as regional sales manager in retail sales for Bank of America in Bellevue.

Co-Star

Co-Star Group, a commercial real estate information provider based in Maryland, promoted John Dawson to Western region vice president of sales, responsible for business development and sales from San Diego to Seattle as well as Phoenix, Las Vegas and Denver. He'll work from Costar's Orange County office. Dawson was regional director for San Diego and Orange County.

Tamar Weitzel was promoted to director of Puget Sound property management for Colliers Real Estate Management Services, a division of Colliers International. She was a senior property manager. She joined Colliers in 1996 after working for nine years for Quadrant Management Services as a senior property manager.

Rental Association of Puget Sound

The Apartment Association of Seattle and King County changed its name to the Rental Association of Puget Sound. Executive director Jim Nell said that reflects the broad range of rental housing providers in the group, such as those who rent single-family homes. "Furthermore, our membership extends beyond Seattle and King County. In fact, we have members living all over the world," he said. Doug Neyhart was named the association's president.
