Manson Construction
Lake Washington Ship Canal
Large Lock Center Miter Gate Replacement
The Lake Washington Ship Canal Large Lock Center Miter Gate Replacement project set new standards for marine infrastructure.
Manson Construction replaced century-old gates with precision-engineered 165-ton leaves delivering the work more than a year ahead of schedule using only half the allowed closure windows. This minimized disruption, saved costs, and exceeded client expectations.
From the start, Manson emphasized proactive planning and early conflict resolution, hosting weekly coordination meetings and addressing design issues before fabrication.
Responsiveness defined the team, mobilizing within hours for urgent needs and providing hands-on training for lock operators. The project preserved historical integrity, maintained public access, and achieved zero lost-time incidents over 35,875 hours. USACE praised Manson’s agility, collaboration, and technical excellence, calling them “an invaluable partner.”
