EC Electric

At EC Electric, Stop Work Authority (SWA) is more than a policy— it’s a core part of the safety culture.

A great example happened on the Alaska Airlines Borealis project in Seattle. During a site walk, an employee noticed uncovered floor holes in active work areas, creating a serious fall hazard. They immediately exercised SWA and halted work, notifying the foreman and safety team. Leadership responded quickly, improving lighting and installing temporary covers while developing permanent solutions.

This action not only prevented potential injuries, but led to lasting changes, including better lighting protocols and revised hazard procedures. EC Electric shared the incident company-wide as a case study, reinforcing the message: “See something, say something.” SWA empowers employees and drives continuous safety improvement.
